The times I remember best as a child include exploring the woods behind my house, jumping in the creek, breaking open buckeyes, skiing fast, lightning storms, camping, creating miniature worlds of rocks and boats out of sticks.
Childhood is all about family, faith, wonder, learning through adventure and exploration.
During the 2014 Winter Olympics I watched an interview about Jamie Anderson and her mother, Lauren Anderson, who allowed her children “to be kids”, I found this article later and her quote struck me:
“I wanted them to be like children, playing outside, running and jumping and not sitting inside at a desk. They got to be free, building their bodies, protecting their spirits and minds, and not being pushed or pressured.” http://m.today.com/sochi/gold-

It was by chance I found the community of wild and free on Instagram, drawn in and inspired by the beauty and experience of other moms. Their work captures what I hope in my heart I will be able to offer my kids in terms of lifestyle and education.
I can’t help but dream up a childhood for my littles that isn’t rushed or stressed and days that don’t start with exhaustion and a stomach ache…that I could pay attention to their personal interests, inspire them to grow spiritually, fill them with love so they can hear wisdom when it whispers to them.
“Play is not a luxury it is a necessity.” Here’s to being a pioneer!
